Janet Pittman

Janet PittmanA quilt artist from West Des Moines, Iowa, Janet has been designing her own quilts since 1994. Her appliqué designs are stitched and then embellished to add natural texture and dimension for a realistic appearance whether it is a fuzzy bear or a satin rose.  Janet is a Master Gardener and finds inspiration from her colorful garden.

Janet is the author of two quilting books.
• "Appliqué, the Basics and Beyond", Landauer Publishing, is a comprehensive how-to book of hand and machine appliqué. It features garden appliqué motifs of leaves and flowers for both the novice and experienced quilter.
• "On the Farm", self-published, has ten machine appliqué projects with farm motifs including tractor and barn, chickens, ponies and farmers market produce.
• She is currently working on a new book of quilts for kids, to be released in Fall 2012.

Since 1998 Janet has designed floral- and kid- themed quilt patterns for her pattern company Garden Trellis Designs. As an experienced artist, quilter, and instructor, she creates irresistible patterns, write clear instructions and provide illustrations and photographs that make quilting easy.

March 1-6, 2013 Janet will be teaching "Quilts from the Garden" at Empty Spools Seminars at Asilomar, California. Last year she had the pleasure of being an "artist in residence".
Janet's designs have been published in national quilt magazines including American Patchwork and Quilting, Love of Quilting, American Quilter and Country Marketplace.
